GLBIO Workshop MAY 15TH 2023
The ITN is hosting a workshop at the GLBIO conference on May 15th, 2023. This hands-on interactive workshop is intended for trainees and will have activities and information about:
How to increase the reproducibility of analyses and code
How to use Git and GitHub for version control
How to conduct code review
How to make a scientific website with automated checks and rendering using OTTR (https://www.ottrproject.org/)
Where to find resources to continue learning about these topics after the workshop!
This training session attendees will be capped at the first 30 eligible trainees.
Eligibility:
Trainees who are undergraduates, graduate students, medical students, or postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to attend. We expect up to 30 attendees for this workshop.
Scholarships:
Travel scholarships are available but limited for several workshop attendees and will be supported by the ITCR Training network. You can apply here. Priority will be given to individuals of underrepresented groups and those with financial need. More information on the distributions of the funds will be provided to the selected awardees. We hope to provide funding before the meeting to aid with travel arrangements. Scholarship priority will be given to individuals of underrepresented backgrounds, however this is not required.

ITCR AnnUal Meeting TraininG Day for Trainees!
This event took place on September 15th, 2022 at the ITCR 2022 Meeting (September 13th - 14th).
Fifteen trainees won a travel award (covering costs to attend the meeting and this trainee event)! Trainees learned about reproducibility practices, version control, code review, and more! Trainees also used our OTTR tools to create a website.

Training Events
We host 3 different kinds of events:
Topic Workshops - These events will focus on supporting researchers, postdocs, and students to learn about a specific topic in informatics.
Train the Trainer Events - These events will focus on faculty from HBCU/MSI/TC and provide support for teaching our material at their colleges.
Citizen Science Events - These events bring people from our local communities together to discuss how cancer informatics research is done and how to engage!
